100 Stickers

My son has needed a new bicycle for some time. I thought this might be a good opportunity for him to earn something really big by setting a long-term goal--that of practicing the violin 100 times. Each time he practiced, he got a sticker on his foot chart to keep track.

I wish I could say that we both had a great time, and that it only took 100 days to get 100 stickers. It took about twice as long--we started in December, and finished just before August. In fact, when Jeff had his 97th practice session, he was crying and begging to quit the violin forever--with only three stickers to go!

Fortunately, we made it. (A good night's sleep makes a world of difference in a child's attitude. And a parent's, too.) With the help of my biking-expert brothers, we picked out a bike, which should be arriving any day. And just now, Jeff started making plans for his second 100 stickers!

Great accomplishment! This is one of those "you'll thank me for this later!" things good Moms do for their kids--and he will thank you later. Good going Jen.
