I've often heard it said that Mozart is the favorite composer of most musicians. I'm not sure that it's fair to say that, though. Most musicians I talk to have a hard time picking a favorite, and if they do, it's usually, "The composer whose piece I'm working right now." I can relate to that--whilst I was working on the Schumann transcriptions for our last Trebelle concert, I fell in love with his music.
But are there are some composers whose music you gravitate towards when planning a porgram to begin with? Or certain names that make you want to attend a concert more than other names? Or pieces you hear on the car radio that compell you to stay in your car until they are over, long after you've parked in the garage?
